Uptown Phoenix is an area of Phoenix more recently coined. Uptown boasts a large variety of unique restaurants available to area residents. On 16th St and Bethany Home, you’ll find valley classics such as Luci’s Marketplace, the Vig Uptown, Phoenix City Grille and The Rokerij. For a real throwback in time, head to the Rokerij and head downstairs to the dimly lit bar hidden underneath the restaurant!
Uptown is wedged in between the Biltmore to the East, and North Central to the West. It’s a great central location with simple access to the 51 freeway to go south 5 minutes right into downtown. This convenient location is one of the reasons UpTown Realty exists, to serve clients in all areas of central Phoenix.
Housing in Uptown can vary quite a bit. Homes range from $200k- $600k on average. The lots average around 6,000-8,000 sq ft. The original homes built in the 1950s-1960s were smaller, around 1,000-1,200 sq. ft. The neighborhood is currently undergoing revitalization. Developers and investors have found this area to be rich with opportunities for development. Some of these homes are starting to be replaced with larger newer homes. Our custom home builder counterpart – UpTown Homes – has built several properties in the area.
There are a few communities in the Uptown area that have really blossomed in the last several years. A few subdivisions built by the Valley’s famous architect, Ralph Haver, are a true gem to behold. These midcentury modern homes are highly desirable, and the prices can greatly outweigh a home just a few streets away. While these neighborhoods are probably the highest desired in Uptown Phoenix, it’s easy to see the revitalization efforts of the rest of the area is not far behind.
